About the Item

Our customisable Neves twin drawer desk is handcrafted in England from the finest quartersawn English oak using skilled traditional furniture making techniques. Bold yet refined, the design combines strong contemporary lines with the enduring character and integrity of time honoured craftsmanship. Constructed entirely from carefully selected 30mm (nominal) thick English oak, the piece is accented with sculpted American black walnut drawer handles, creating a subtle visual contrast. Exposed hand-cut twin dovetail joints are prominently featured throughout, providing exceptional structural strength while also serving as a striking detail that celebrates the construction itself. Versatile by design, the Neves desk can function beautifully as a console table, writing desk, or vanity, making it equally suited to hallways, living spaces, bedrooms, or studios. Its balanced proportions and understated architectural form allow the natural materials and craftsmanship to take centre stage. Each piece is hand finished in highly durable eco-friendly oils that enhance the depth, grain, and tactile qualities of the timber while providing long-lasting protection for everyday use. Custom sizing and design alterations are possible within practical parameters, allowing each piece to be tailored to individual requirements. Bespoke quotations are available upon request. The design is also available in full prime American black walnut or English ash. We create bold and distinctive furniture with a focus on combining unique contemporary design alongside the inherent beauty and structural properties of exceptional natural materials. Timber selection is made specifically for each design, carefully considering grain, figure, strength, and visual impact. Our continued use of English quartersawn oak is one example of this philosophy. Long prized by fine furniture makers, quartersawn oak is considerably more demanding and costly to produce yet offers exceptional stability along with the dramatic medullary ray figuring that gives the timber its unmistakable depth and character. By embracing these naturally occurring qualities within clean contemporary forms, we create idiosyncratic and tactile pieces with enduring presence and authenticity. Traditional cabinet making displays the unmistakable tactile quality of hand-built furniture. Slight nuances and individual characteristics are embraced as part of the authenticity of the work. Each piece is entirely handmade in very small numbers by our highly skilled craftspeople in England.
