About the Item

A handsome Italian early 18th century Louis XIV Period Walnut desk, circa. 1730. This wonderful desk is raised by four square tapered legs with a concave shaped bases and top mottled crowns below the top blocks. The straight apron displays a curved center with a mottled bottom trim and bull nose edge. Above lays its original Walnut cartonnier with various size drawers and central compartments with doors. On the outside are recessed panels with raised mottled designs which conceal secret compartments with original hardware. The back of the desk is wonderfully finished with the same decorative panels. A most unique and statement making desk with wonderful and rich patina throughout
