About the Item

Elegant cookie table in the Charles X style, made in Italy in the mid-19th century. The beautifully shaped, wavy top is finely panelled in walnut with a fine herringbone arrangement centered by geometric reserve. The quality of the grain, which is particularly warm and animated, gives the furniture a remarkable decorative presence. The table rests on an important central turned support richly carved with leaf motifs and references still related to the neoclassical taste, although evolving toward softer, more wavy lines typical of the Louis Philippe taste. The four wavy legs end in elegant sculpted curls. The fully detachable structure is also very interesting: the top can be easily separated from the support by pins placed under the top itself, a practical feature that is rare to find. Furniture of excellent craftsmanship, ideal in both classic and more contemporary settings as a living room table, room centerpiece or elegant gueridon. Good overall state of preservation. The top shows slight signs of time and varnish; light re-polishing is recommended if necessary, an intervention that can be arranged.
