About the Item

Passing through these impressive posts, a visitor to a Qing-dynasty estate would know he was entering someplace special. Used in a traditional courtyard entry to secure the doors as they swung open, these hand-carved posts are nonetheless ripe with symbolism. Double dragon medallions grace the corners, while elephants, symbols of wisdom and strength, carry incense on their backs in deference to Buddhist or ancestor rituals. Covered in intricate carvings, these posts are wonderful as decorative pedestals, both indoors and out. Additional dimensions: Lower tier: 14" W x 10" D x 10" H Upper tier: 11" W x 9.75" D x 27" H.
