About the Item

A unique sculptural table by Italian artist Davide Moretto, handcrafted from a solid section of oak root mounted on blackened iron legs. The work embodies Moretto’s signature philosophy — transforming reclaimed, timeworn materials into contemporary design objects that preserve their natural history. The organic tabletop, carved from a radical section of ancient oak, retains its natural fissures, cavities, and undulating grain. Each imperfection has been carefully stabilized with hand-applied studs and nails (borchie e chiodi), creating a dialogue between repair and decoration, nature and human intervention. This expressive, one-of-a-kind piece bridges brutalist texture and refined minimalism, recalling the material sensibility of Carlo Mollino, Franco Albini, and Mario Ceroli, yet fully asserting Moretto’s poetic independence. A testament to the beauty of imperfection, Borchie e Chiodi transcends the boundary between furniture and sculpture — an object that carries the memory of its material and the artist’s act of renewal.
