Dischi side table by Gentner Design. Dimensions: D 30.5 x W 30.5 x H 48 cm. Materials: brass, darkened stainless steel. With a nod to Harry Bertoia, the Dischi table is both sculptural as it is functional. Amazingly stable as a table surface, this piece is a willowy yet architectural statement which can also be customized into various shapes. Discs made of milled brass and a darkened stainless steel base, the stainless steel rods allow for the gentile movement of the table top. Gentner Design Rooted in a language of sculpture, character defining details, and world renowned craftsmanship, the work is found at the crossroads of design and art. Established in 2011, the namesake furniture label is a rare combination of aesthetic dexterity and mastery of craft resulting in furniture and objects that are expressive, formal, and transcend materiality. The collection is based in metal and incorporates only natural materials such as leather, wood, and glass in unique ways, challenging our assumptions. Christopher Gentner Christopher Gentner, with a BFA in metalsmithing from the Cleveland Institute of Art and apprenticeships under sculptors and jewelers, together with dedication to craft, quickly developed his reputation nationally as a foremost authority of metal fabrication and furniture. One of his crowning achievements was the re-creation and fabrication of the Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House gates. These unique experiences are the foundation of his design philosophy which he employs in his own line of furniture, lighting, and objects.
