About the Item

George III Chippendale Carved Mahogany Silver Table. Table features a fixed tray top with an intricately pierced gallery in an interlaced lattice pattern. The apron is clean and understated, allowing the gallery and corner brackets to shine. Beneath, four straight, fluted legs are joined by an elegant, pierced X-form stretcher, centered with a turned finial. The stretcher stabilizes the form and adds sculptural presence to the silhouette. These tables became fashionable in English homes of the period, used for tea service, decorative displays, or as versatile small tables in drawing rooms and libraries. In today's interiors, the table can be used as a decorative side table, as an entry hall piece, a bedside table, or as a bar or serving table for entertaining.
