About the Item

A Superb Quality George II Period, 18th Century, Mahogany Occasional, Or Centre, Table Having Superbly Figured Circular Tilting Top Of Exceptional Rich Untouched Colour And Patina, Over Bold Vase Turned Central Column With Elegant Tripod Legs And Original Pad Feet. This lovely mid 18th century table is one for the purists in terms of form as well as those looking for function. The simplicity of design and superbly figured timber used creates a real elegance which is rarely found. Another great feature is the lovely untouched colour and surface which again is extremely desirable. This georgian tripod table is a bit bigger than most, enough to make it significant in a room and to give it real presence, although it is not so large that it would be overpowering as such, indeed it can still be defined as an occasional or lamp table, as well as being defined as a small centre table of sorts. Overall the condition is excellent. As mentioned before it retains a quite exceptional colour and patina. Within that patina are a few old marks, scuffs, scrapes etc which have blended nicely into the surface and help create that lovely untouched surface. Structurally the table is very much sound and solid with no concerns at all in that respect. As with all items which we offer for sale this tripod table has been inspected at our workshops by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being placed onto sale which ensures that its in its best possible condition and ready to be placed immediately into the home. Circa 1750. Height 27.75in. Width 34.75in. Depth 34.75in. A Very Good Quality Late 18th Century, George III Period, Mahogany Wine Table, Having Well Figured Circular Tilting Top Retaining Untouched Colour And Patina With Strung Decoration, Over Elegant Baluster Turned Column With Umbrella Tripod Legs. A simple, elegant and beautiful little table, which is also incredibly functional, this is of relatively typical design for the late 18th century georgian period. Boasting rich, dense, mahogany timbers, alongside a good untouched colour and patina, in combination with the subtle strung inlaid decoration to the edge of the top it has a real touch of class and exudes elegance. The perfect size for an absolute host of spaces around the home, it is both beautiful and practical. It would work just as well alongside a sofa or library chair in the living room to place a drinks glass on top of, as it would in the drawing room with a lamp perched atop, or even in the bedroom as a bedside table. As with all our items this table has been attended to in our worksops by our highly trained, skilled, traditional antique furniture...
