About the Item

Unique handmade or handwoven tapestry by George Choudoir. Signed and designed by Mirovan The company Georges Chaudoir, which was created in 1890 and opearted until the late 1960's, was the last Belgian Brussels manufacturer of these kind of carpets. They continued the great belgian tradition of woven tapestry, which existed since century in Flanders. Chaudoir gave it a modern twist: he asked great belgian artists to make creations for his tapestries. This resulted in some wonderful mid-century carpets. Not so many on the market available and each piece is unique. Fine condition Signed by the maker: Mirovan BB: wich stands for Bruxella in Brabantia On the back: title of the tapestry Bris d'essor
