About the Item

"Two Birds," by artist Ted Weller, is a stunning example of Hyper-Realism in which the artist deconstructs nature to create a more powerful and exhilarating version of this otherwise quiet moment. Birds, branches, leaves and sky are deconstructed into planes of forms of color and woven back into a new, vibrant tapestry of exuberant reality. The use of an encaustic technique in which pigment is added to hot beeswax and applied to a board, enables Weller to further infuse the surface with texture and vibrancy. The colors in image 3 are the most accurate, but the sky is brighter and a deeper blue in person. Ted Weller exhibited at the renowned O.K Harris Gallery in Manhattan in 2007 and is currently a professor at The Rhode Island School of Design. Signed T. Weller 1985 on the back with the O.K. Harris Label Provenance: Atlantic Richfield Company, corporate art collection.
