About the Item

Decorate a kitchen wall, breakfast room, or dining area with this vibrant antique Barbotine faience wall plate. Crafted in France circa 1880 by the Longchamp factory, the sculptural Majolica platter features a richly modeled composition of two ripe pears suspended from a naturalistic branch, surrounded by lush green leaves and delicate pink blossoms in high relief. The hand-painted surface displays a beautifully variegated palette of greens, soft blues, warm ochres, and blush tones, enhanced by a glossy glaze that accentuates the dimensional fruit and foliage. The asymmetrical background wash adds depth and movement, giving the piece a painterly quality while highlighting the lifelike modeling typical of late 19th century French Barbotine ceramics. The plate is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with vivid coloration and fine definition throughout. Stamped “Longchamp” on the reverse and fitted with a hanging device for easy wall installation. A charming and highly decorative piece, ideal for adding texture and color to a curated wall arrangement or displayed on open shelving. Dimensions: 12" diameter
