18th Century Italian Architectural Capriccio Engraving of Monte Cavallo Ruins

18th Century Italian Architectural Capriccio Engraving of Monte Cavallo Ruins

Located in Miami, FL

An evocative 18th century Italian architectural engraving depicting romanticized classical ruins and monumental masonry structures within the famed gardens of Monte Cavallo, Rome. Rich in atmospheric detail, the composition captures the enduring fascination with antiquity that defined the Grand Tour era and the decorative arts of the late Baroque and early Neoclassical periods. The lower inscription references the Giardino Colonnese al Monte Cavallo and credits the design to Bernardo Gamucci, connecting the print to Rome’s celebrated antiquarian and architectural traditions. Presented under matting in a giltwood frame with subtle distressed patina, this piece works beautifully in both traditional and transitional interiors. Ideal for collectors of Grand Tour material, Italian architectural prints...
