About the Item

An expressive and characterful 1966 drawing by Dutch artist F. Brehm, depicting a cat named after Holland's famous footballer Johan Cruyff, with her kittens. The composition captures a remarkable sense of personality, with confident line work and subtle and rapid detailing that bring the subjects vividly to life. This work is part of a rare series of four related drawings (as shown in image 7-8-9-10), each exploring a cats character and emotion with a distinct artistic sensitivity due to intense observation. The piece stands beautifully on its own while also offering the opportunity to collect the complete set. Dimensions of the drawing; H 41-W 23 cm. Dimensions of the drawing framed with a card and picture frame win wood and acrylic (can be replaced for glass). Interior Etching and Aquatint, Signed by Julian Trevelyan, Modern British Art

Located in London, GB

Original etching and aquatint titled 'Interior' signed Julian Trevelyan in pencil, signed and numbered 2/52, from the small and very rare limited edition in black wooden frame. Julian was a distinguished artist and print maker producing work with a broad appeal. A highly collectible almost abstract interior by a leading modern British artist. The working life of Julian Trevelyan (1910-88) spanned more than 65 years. He joined Stanley Hayter's atelier in Paris in 1931 where he worked alongside artists such as Ernst, Kokoschka, Masson, Miro and Picasso. Charcoal Drawing of a Cat Washing by Dutch Artist Estella Den Boer

Charcoal Drawing of a Cat Washing by Dutch Artist Estella Den Boer

By Estella den Boer

Located in Doornspijk, NL

Wonderful and powerful work of a cat washing itself by Dutch artist Estella den Boer. Such a pleasure to look at. This trusting cat in utmost concentration to clean its coat. It is drawn almost minimalistically, causing all attention to go to this cleaning lady. Signed on the front: Estella. Work comes from the legacy of Estella den Boer. Estella den Boer (1912-2010) was born in Middelburg, the Netherlands. She made expressive and abstract work, drawings, paintings and ceramics and found absolute freedom in constructive art. A visit to Piet Mondrian's retrospective exhibition in 1955 in the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague made an overwhelming impression on her. Her conviction that geometric arrangements are the most appropriate visual language to act out of Material limitations and find a way to a larger space was confirmed here. Den Boer was influenced by the Russian Constructivists like Kandinsky. In later works we see influences from Italian Futurists, such as Gino Severini. In playfulness and use of color her painting is sometimes related to that of the artist Sophie Taüber...
