About the Item

This evocative still life by Dutch painter Jacobus Johannes Doeser (1884–1970) reflects his refined sense of color, texture, and composition, deeply rooted in early 20th-century Dutch realism. Born in Utrecht and largely self-taught, Doeser worked in several Dutch art centers as well as in Paris and Leipzig, developing a distinctive style that bridged traditional realism and modern expressiveness. Renowned for his flower paintings, landscapes, and domestic interiors, he combined a meticulous attention to detail with an emotional sensitivity to light and atmosphere.
