About the Item

A fine portrait of a gentleman, pastel on paper stretched on canvas. The man is an aristocrat ; he is wearing a typical Louis XVI style red jacket and a wig. His facial features are elegant. The portrait is set into a Louis XVI gilt wood frame (gold leaf gilt) decorated with pearls. It still has its original glass with typical 18th century unevenness ; this is a distinctive (and charming) feature of antique glasses (but it makes it difficult to make the pictures).
