Original Vintage Poster for the French Railways about Verdun created by Etienne Jeannet in 1930. Artist: Jeannet Etienne Title: Verdun – Forteresse historique – Centre de Tourisme Date: circa 1930 Size (w x h): 24.8 x 39.2 in / 63 x 99.5 cm Printer: S.F.I.P.E._ Paris, 122 Champs-Elysées Editor: Syndicat d’initiative de Verdun (Meuse) Materials and Techniques: Colour lithograph on paper Linen backing: Yes Condition: A (Designates a poster in very good condition. The colours are fresh and there are no or very few paper losses. If there are imperfections they are marginal and imperceptible). Additional Details: Poster of the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français (SNCF) to promote tourism in France, particularly in Verdun. In the center, the monument of Victory and the soldiers of Verdun. A warrior, helmeted and leaning on his sword is framed by names of battle sites, the Porte Chaussée at his feet. The monument was built from 1926 by the architect Léon Chesnay.
