About the Item

Original engraved map titled “Nieuwe en Naauwkeurige Kaart der XVII Provinciën van Nederland”, published in Amsterdam by the renowned Dutch cartographer and publisher Isaak Tirion (1705–1765). This finely detailed map depicts the historic Seventeen Provinces of the Low Countries, including present-day Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and parts of northern France and western Germany. Executed in delicate copperplate engraving, the work features extensive topographical detail, period typography, coastal shading, and decorative cartographic elements characteristic of mid-18th-century Dutch mapmaking. Printed on laid paper with visible center fold, consistent with atlas-issued examples of the period. Presented in a later custom wooden frame with neutral matting. A decorative and historically important example of Dutch Enlightenment-era cartography. Origin: Amsterdam, Netherlands Date: circa 1745–1760 Maker: Isaak Tirion Medium: Copperplate engraving on paper Condition: Age-related toning and minor wear consistent with age; framed under glass.
