The plates originate from Frederik Ludvig Norden’s Voyage d’Égypte et de Nubie, first published in Copenhagen in 1755. Norden’s work is distinguished by its measured, observational approach, documenting Egypt as a living geography rather than a theatrical vision of ruins.
