About the Item

A wonderfully composed, abstract designed limited edition silkscreen serigraph print by American artist Dean Meeker. This work is titled "Portofino" and is one of his more elusive/rare and hard-to-find images. The print is hand-pencil signed, titled, and numbered (Edition of 50) by the artist. Dean Jackson Meeker (born in Madison, Wisconsin, 1920-2002) was an internationally recognized sculptor, painter, and printmaker. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Northwestern University, and the University of Wisconsin. In 1958, Meeker was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for 1959 and 1960 to study printmaking in Europe. In Paris, he worked at Hayter's printmaking workshop, Atelier 17, and with printmaker Kaiko Moti while also studying in museums in Spain and Italy. Meeker's works are in collections worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, National Gallery of Art, Smithsonian, Milwaukee Art Center, Walker Art Center, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Art Institute of Chicago, Art Institute of Milwaukee, Beloit College Art Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Denison University, Detroit Institute of Fine Arts, Library of Congress, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and many other collections and renowned museums both in the United State and abroad. The work has been previously matted and framed. Frame dimensions: 23.25" high, 35.25" wide, 1.5" deep Viewable art: 19" high, 31" wide.

In very good vintage condition with one small spot on lower margin else no discernable issues (we have not removed work from the frame). The frame may have light wear consistent with age and use (please see photos). Beautiful and engaging overall.
