About the Item

A contemporary lithograph on paper titled "Discovery" by Santa Cruz artist John Maxon. Hand signed in pencil bottom right. Titled bottom mid with an annotation of 27/200 on the bottom left. Published in 1994. A dreamlike landscape of a glistening waterway and lush landscape under an ethereal pink sky. Per the artist, “Paint the struggle. Paint the joy. Above all, paint the Truth.” Coming from a very western tradition in Wyoming, John Maxon developed an expansive view of nature and the spiritual essence it imbued. Most of his artistic career was spent in California exploring the landscapes in San Francisco, San Jose, and Napa Valley. He also spent a brief time in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the 90's. Today, John is currently an adjunct professor of art at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California, where he continues his painting career. From a private collection. Dimensions: 25.5"h x 37.75" w x 1.5"d (framed). In very good vintage condition.
