About the Item

A superb example of early Flemish craftsmanship. This 17th Century woven tapestry depicts a dramatic historical scene - a gathering of richly attired male figures dressed in voluminous robes and doublets, rendered in soft shades of ochre, indigo, and muted greens. Executed in wool and silk, the tapestry displays the refined palette and detailing typical of the workshops of Brussels during the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Circa 1650.
