About the Item

19th-century Beauvais Tapestry – “arrival Of The Fishermen” – No. 1406 – 230 X 260 Cm Period: 19th century Condition: Perfect condition Material: Wool Width: 230 cm Height: 260 cm Depth: 0.5 cm A splendid 19th-century Beauvais tapestry entitled “The Arrival of the Fishermen,” depicting a maritime scene imbued with realism and serenity. The Beauvais weavers display their full expertise through subtle nuances and exquisitely fine details: fishermen hauling in their nets, barrels, freshly caught fish, and sailing ships in the distance compose a vibrant and harmonious scene. The warm, powdery tones of browns, ochres, and pinks lend the whole a peaceful atmosphere, typical of 19th-century decorative compositions. The frame, adorned with a rich foliate border, highlights the depth and quality of the weaving. This magnificent tapestry has undergone a thorough cleaning, hand-lined with 100% linen fabric, and meticulous inspection by our experts in our workshop. It is now ready to grace your home.
