Mid-Century Modern Abstract Wool Tapestry by Marlene Hoffmann, c. 1970 A mid-20th-century handwoven textile by Colombian artist Marlene Hoffmann, executed in a bold, high-contrast abstract composition made of wool and goat hair. Marlene Hoffmann was a Colombian textile artist associated with the development of modern fiber art in the mid-20th century. Influenced by Bauhaus principles, she founded her own studio in Bogotá in 1962, seeking to bridge fine art and culturally-relevant craft, combining abstract modernist design with traditional Colombian materials and techniques. Her textiles often explore structure, texture, and color through handwoven forms that function as both decorative and conceptual objects.
