Rare and fantastical Italian Mezzaro, c. 1815, Genoa. This is a particularly rare design “mezzaro with ship” , the flower-filled tree of life having a variety of creatures including turtles, birds, and snails within its branches, sheep and goats around its base, with a sailing ship to the lower left approaching a castle, and a man leading a giraffe in the lower right, along with various dogs and turtles also to the lower portion.
