About the Item

18th century Italian gold leaf fragment from Lucca with a chalcedony rosette crystal dipped in gold, and draped linen stiffened with marble paste, gesso, and wax on wood. The chalcedony rosette is a crystallized flower formation that is formed under the earth surface. This is a mixed media combining contemporary art with Baroque and Rococo elements. The date of manufacture reflects when the piece was created and the period shows the age of the natural elements. The piece appears to have evolved together over time - Interpreting the past to create historical yet contemporary work, entirely original, evolving in its own right.
