About the Item

Large marquetry piece depicting a rope team in the Alps in very good condition Louis Paul Thiam (1914–1973) was a French woodcarver and marquetry artist, particularly active in Lorraine.​Coming from a family of artists—introduced to the craft by his father, Aimé Thiam (inventor of an innovative marquetry technique), and collaborating with his brother Albert Thiam—he specialized in a unique technique: relief marquetry (or carved wood panels in half-relief).
