About the Item

This extraordinary illuminated square wall panel, designed by Nerone e Patuzzi, is a remarkable fusion of art and light. Crafted from etched aluminum and zinc, with wood and copper detailing, it was produced by Forme e Superfici as part of a limited edition—though the exact production number remains unknown. A true collector’s piece, this panel bears the artists’ signatures on the right front, while a sticker on the back provides details about its production. The interplay of materials and illumination creates the striking illusion of a celestial body, evoking the impression of having a planet inside your home. From every perspective, the light refracts differently on the etched surface, producing an effect reminiscent of an eclipse—a dynamic and ever-changing display of light and shadow. Especially when the it gets dark, this sculpture gets more intriguing. The piece remains in good original condition, with gentle, age-related signs of wear. It is easy to mount using two screws on the back, making it a seamless addition to any interior. A mesmerizing and thought-provoking work of art, this panel embodies both artistic ingenuity and timeless design. Born in Tuscany, Nero Ceccarelli inherited his artistic passion from his mother, a painter. From a young age, he gained recognition for his distinctive style, exploring abstractionism and multi-material techniques. His artistic evolution led him to study Renaissance masters like Masaccio and Donatello while living in Florence, where he also encountered the celebrated architect and designer Carlo Scarpa, who deeply influenced his approach. After military service, Ceccarelli moved to Turin, where he immersed himself in Bauhaus and Constructivist art, further refining his material-based techniques. His fascination with integrating art into everyday life led him to co-found the NP2 Group in 1962 alongside Giancarlo Patuzzi. Their mission was to blend art with architecture, and through exhibitions in the United States and Canada, their work gained international recognition. Ceccarelli was more than an artist; he was a “social sculptor”, whose works transcended traditional galleries to engage with urban spaces and modern living environments. His pioneering spirit and artistic vision continue to inspire contemporary design and abstractionist art.
