Nox Pine Tree, Poplar Tree, Walnut Tree, Oak Tree, Mahogany Tree by Hodan Design
Dimensions: W 100 x D 100 x H 5 cm
Materials: Pine tree, Poplar tree, Walnut tree, Oak tree, Mahogany tree.
Finish color: Charred black (re-treated surface).
Charred black surfaces resemble traces filtered through time. In this composition, where the sharp lines of wood meet its gentle curves, lies an attempt to transform the chaos of nature into a geometric order. Within a minimal form, it tells an intensely layered story: the burning technique is the most organic expression of the designer’s dialogue with the material. Fire becomes not merely a surface treatment, but a tool that reveals the “memories” of each piece.
About:
Being intertwined with art has been one of the strongest motivations of my life. Linocut, wood carving, and riding motorcycles have given me both freedom and the courage to explore creativity through dierent paths. These passions are the source of the balance, rhythm, and sense of movement reected in my designs. After studying industrial design, I worked for about a year as an interior architect in the furniture industry. This experience allowed me to closely observe the relationship between space and object. Yet, the inner urge to create reminded me that I needed to embark on a more personal and original journey. That was how Hodan was born. The name Hodan carries a deeply personal meaning. As someone with psoriasis, I discovered the healing power of borage oil. For me, it became more than just a plant; it symbolized transformation, resilience, and the strength of healing. That is why my brand carries its name. Hodan is more than a design brand; it is an expression of personal healing, respect for nature, and a universal connection through art. At the same time, Hodan reects women’s strength and creative drive. Each design, with its patiently carved wooden surfaces, carries both the traces of nature and the delicacy of women’s labor. This craftsmanship, standing against the speed of the modern world, emphasizes women’s presence and transformative power in creation. Today, Hodan seeks to build a bridge between art and design, aiming not only to illuminate spaces but also to bring light into lives. Because light—just like the presence of women—is both gentle and strong, both transformative and universal. Hodan was born out of a search for a language beyond boundaries. A language that transcends identity, religion, culture, or personal dierences; creating a light that touches only humanity and nature. Because light is a shared value, a universal symbol for everyone. Hodan reinterprets this symbol through a modern design language, aiming to reach every space and every soul. Each Hodan piece, shaped by inspiration from nature and an environmentally conscious approach, is not just an object but an expression of a journey, a stance. The natural texture of wood, the depth of re-burnt traces, and the patience of craftsmanship… All these elements come together to transform into timeless, unique, and artistic objects. Hodan unites the simplicity of modern design with the emotional power of art. The resulting works, while blending into life through their functionality, also add spirit to spaces with their distinctive character. For me, light does not merely illuminate; it carries thoughts, emotions, and creative expressions. That is why every design aims to enlighten people not only in their spaces but also in their inner worlds. Hodan oers a small yet meaningful contribution to a more sensitive, more aesthetic, and more inclusive future. Because we believe that design, just like light, should be able to reach everyone, everywhere.
