Angelo Mangiarotti Bar Cabinets in Rosewood La Sorgente dei Mobili Mid Century

2200 €per set|IVA inclusa

Informazioni sull’articolo

An extraordinary and rare pair of storage cabinets with integrated corner bar column from the S11 series, designed by Angelo Mangiarotti for La Sorgente dei Mobili in the late 1960s. This modular set can be placed either in a corner or flush against a wall and is entirely made of African rosewood with solid wood detailing. One cabinet features two drawers and an upper storage compartment with double doors. The second, more complex cabinet includes two drawers and a pull-out shelf with a rotating base, originally designed to house a television, allowing it to swivel freely and be repositioned as desired. Completing the set is a cylindrical bar column, also clad entirely in rosewood, with a circular black plastic compartment on top—ideal for storing ice and keeping bottles chilled. The set is in excellent condition, with no visible damage or significant defects. Angelo Mangiarotti (1921–2012) was a renowned Italian architect and designer, celebrated for his influential contributions to architecture and industrial design. Born in Milan, he studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, where he later also taught. His career spanned across teaching, architectural projects, industrial design, and sculpture. A key figure in the Italian Modernist movement, Mangiarotti collaborated with many other notable designers and architects, leaving a profound mark on Italian design. His body of work includes buildings, furniture, and sculptural objects. His design approach was rooted in simplicity, functionality, and a deep respect for materials. Many of his creations are noted for their timeless elegance and the way they blend innovative forms with practical utility. The S11 modular program is one such example of his foray into furniture design—offering solutions that are both architecturally inspired and functionally refined. Mangiarotti left a lasting legacy in the worlds of design and architecture, with many of his works still highly appreciated and sought after today.
