EVE PERI (1897-1966) Nata a Bangor, nel Maine, Eve Peri ha lavorato principalmente come artista astratta di collage di fibre, creando composizioni ricamate, disegni e dipinti. Un modernista che prediligeva motivi ricchi e forme organiche, Peri tagliava e assemblava tessuti trovati durante i suoi viaggi in tutto il mondo. Ha vissuto e lavorato a New York, in Messico e a Philadelphia, con soggiorni prolungati a Londra, Lisbona, Parigi e Roma. Fin da piccola, Peri ha imparato le tecniche di ricamo, appliqué, cucito e quiltmaking dalla madre e dalle zie. Come artista che lavora con queste abilità e come designer con il suo secondo marito, il pittore colombiano Alfonso Umana Mendez, ha prodotto tessuti a mano per interni, teatro e moda. Sebbene la sua visibilità sia stata eclissata nei decenni successivi alla sua morte, oggi c'è un rinnovato interesse per la sua arte grazie alle recenti mostre alla Michael Rosenfeld Gallery di New York.
