About the Item

A masterpiece of mid-century Scandinavian modernism, this striking sterling silver bracelet was designed by the legendary Henning Koppel for the revered Danish silversmith Georg Jensen. Created in 1947, the "Amoeba" (Model 89) is celebrated worldwide as a definitive triumph of biomorphic, sculptural design. This substantial bracelet is composed of five oversized, fluidly sculpted organic links that wrap beautifully around the wrist, culminating in a smaller, seamlessly integrated toggle clasp link. True to Koppel's avant-garde vision, the piece functions as a wearable work of abstract art, offering a bold silhouette and a magnificent tactile weight of 132 grams. The bracelet includes an added layer of security with its original silver safety chain and jump ring. It is in very good to fine vintage condition, showing light, authentic surface wear consistent with age that highlights its sculptural contours. An essential acquisition for serious collectors of Georg Jensen or mid-century modernist jewelry.
