Large Facet Stud Earrings in Sterling Silver 925 by Leonie Simpson. Dimensions: W 0.9 x D 0.8 x H 0.9 cm. Materials: Sterling Silver 925. Rough hewn, textured and striking, the Facet series illuminates the artistry of rocks and stones - and their natural forms as eruptions of phenomenally textured beauty. Svelte, sleek and minimal yet bursting with an energetic, sculptural quality, the Facets series is contemporary jewellery that really says something. Each piece is made to order, so will vary slightly from the piece pictured. About the Artist Leonie Simpson is a contemporary jewellery designer and maker, based in Sydney, Australia. Her work brings together the methods of traditional and contemporary jewellery, through hand fabrication and wax carving. Her work is sculptural and textured, drawn from the natural environment: earrings shaped by fire, wind, and rain; rings built from jagged rock formations; pendants that move like water. Forms are worked in silver, organic and tactile. Her practice is rooted in wax carving and casting through the lost wax process — a technique with ancient origins, used by jewellers and sculptors across cultures and centuries to translate a maker’s vision into metal. Hand fabrication and stone setting each play a role, called on when the work asks for it. Her intention is work that can be worn with confidence for decades and passed on if the person who wears it chooses.
