This is a rare and wonderful Victorian Enamel Ruby Pearl 14 Karat Gold Locket Pendant with an image of a woman carrying flowers. The romantic and charming image is done in enamel with gorgeous colors and details. The maiden carries flowers including pink roses. She wears a blue skirt and pink camisole top. She stands in a pastoral setting with mountains in the background. The colors of the image with its blues and pinks and green background is absolutely gorgeous. The locket is 14 Karat Gold and is in the Etruscan Revival style which was very popular during the Victorian period, and is even more highly coveted today. The locket has wonderful details with the central enamel panel and elegantly framed and adorned border. The locket is set with two Pearls on either side of the image and a Ruby below the image. The locket has a wonderful bale. The locket opens on the reverse to reveal the photo or memento compartment. This one is particularly special as it has covered compartments on both the top and bottom. The gold rimmed covers are present on both sides with their perspex coverings intact. There is a remnant of memorial hair on the top frame which can be easily removed if desired. It is so rare to find early antique lockets with enamel images. I love the romantic design with the maiden gathering flowers in the stunning pastel colors. This one is just perfect. The special locket dances delightfully around the neck and creates a conversation piece to be passed on for generations. The locket dates to circa 1850 - 1890. The locket pendant is 2 1/4 inches (55mm) long including the bales. It is 1 inch (26mm) wide. The locket compartment is 20mm by 14mm. The locket is 14 Karat Gold The locket weighs 10 grams. This Locket Pendant Necklace is a magnificent piece of Austro-Hungarian Garnet, Turquoise and Pearl jewelry. It is in the Renaissance Revival style and dates to circa 1870. The gems are all set in silver gilt as was the custom of the Austro-Hungarian jewels. The bale is 14 Karat Gold. In the center is a gorgeous Pearl set in a flower motif collet. The pearl is surrounded by a flower halo of 8 pear shape flat cut Bohemian Garnet gems. The garnets are all set in decorated collets. The border is set with two oval flat cut Garnets and eight Turquoise cabochons that alternate with raised flower motif designs. The locket is also engraved on both the front and in a wonderful pattern on the back. The locket opens to reveal places for two photos if desired.
