About the Item

Fabergé Lion-Egg, 18k Yellow Gold, Translucent Purple Guilloché Vitreous Enamel, Diamonds 0.198 ct G VS, Kalahari Jasper The Lion Egg, created in 2007, pays homage to the King of Beasts, long regarded as a symbol of power and authority in heraldry. The egg is crafted from 18k yellow gold and layered with translucent purple-red vitreous enamel over a finely engraved guilloché wave ground, creating vibrant depth and colour. At the top sits an imperial crown in yellow gold, its surface enamelled in rich red and surmounted by a diamond set in reverse, symbolising majesty and sovereignty. The opening clasp is formed as a fleur-de-lis in white gold, set with brilliant-cut diamonds, emphasising its regal theme. When opened, the egg reveals a miniature family of lions: a lion, lioness, and playful cub, all modelled in 18k yellow gold with naturalistic surface details and subtle enamel accents. The base is carved from Kalahari jasper, its natural warm brown and ochre veining evoking the African landscape, polished to a fine sheen and framed in gold. Background: The lion has been revered since antiquity as a symbol of courage, protection, and sovereignty. In European heraldry, it became the emblem of dynasties and kingdoms, appearing on coats of arms, banners, and royal insignia. The Lion Egg draws upon this long tradition, uniting royal emblems—the imperial crown and fleur-de-lis—with the lion as the enduring “King of Beasts.” Reference: F2666/P4/78/01/104 Brand: Fabergé Workmaster: Victor Mayer Material: 750/- yellow gold (18k) Dimensions: Height 14 cm Vitreous enamel: translucent purple-red, guilloché ground Diamonds: 16 brilliant cut diamonds total 0.198 ct, G VS Gemstones: Kalahari jasper (base) Limited edition: 2/75 Source: Anne-Barbara Kern, *Fabergé Eggs by Victor Mayer* (Stuttgart: Arnoldsche, 2009), p. 119. About the Fabergé workmaster VICTOR MAYER For two decades (1989 to 2009), the renowned German jewellery house VICTOR MAYER was authorised to create exquisite Fabergé jewellery and objets d’art under an exclusive worldwide licence. As such, Victor Mayer continued the tradition of the Fabergé workmaster for twenty years. Today, Victor Mayer remains one of Fabergé’s most valued and trusted suppliers of enamelled jewellery and objects of art. About vitreous enamel: The inimitable vibrant colours are literally created "in the fire": layer by layer, the enamel is carefully fired at 800 degrees Celsius. Vitreous means made of glass: this ancient technique is almost forgotten today, and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufactory to master it at the highest level. About guilloché engraving: Guilloching is the process of engraving the finest wave patterns into the gold, creating a unique depth effect beneath the enamel. Condition: The object was inspected and refurbished in the Victor Mayer workshops in Pforzheim, Germany. It is in excellent, mint condition. Availability: This piece is currently available for purchase and can be shipped without delay. Certificate and packaging: The Egg Object will be delivered with an original Fabergé box and certificates attesting to its provenance.

Fabergé Spring Egg, 18k Yellow Gold, Translucent Pink Guilloché Vitreous Enamel, 79 Diamonds 1.06 ct G VS, Bowenite, Rose Quartz, Citrine, Rock Crystal, Amethyst, Topaz The Spring Egg, created in 1996, is the first in the Fabergé “Four Seasons” series inspired by Antonio Vivaldi’s celebrated violin concertos. It represents the awakening of spring through a delicate fusion of colour, movement, and music. The egg’s exterior is crafted from 18k yellow gold, covered with translucent pink enamel on a guilloché ground. Its surface is richly decorated with applied golden garlands, bows, and floral motifs, accented by 79 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 1.06 ct (G VS). The vibrant pink hue, enhanced by guilloché engraving, symbolises freshness and renewal. When opened, the egg reveals its surprise: a golden vase containing a vivid bouquet of flowers carved from semiprecious stones — citrine, rock crystal, amethyst, and topaz. Each blossom is highlighted by a sparkling diamond “dewdrop”, while the leaves are crafted in green-enamelled gold. The bouquet slowly revolves to the melody of Vivaldi’s “Spring” from The Four Seasons, played by a dedicated Swiss music movement by Reuge. The mechanism was further modified and refined by Swiss master watchmaker Paul Gerber...
