About the Item

A beautiful and historically significant antique Dutch 14 karat gold stick pin, dating to around 1900. The finely crafted circular top is made of delicate openwork filigree, composed of intricate wirework and granulation. At the center sits a sculptural floral motif in warm rose gold tones, accented with a small natural seed pearl. The layered goldwork and scalloped outer border create depth and refinement, showing the beautiful craftsmanship characteristic of traditional Dutch regional jewelry. This stick pin belongs to the traditional regional dress of The Netherlands. These pins were typically worn in pairs and were pushed backwards into the cap or hat above the forehead, positioned on both sides between the curls of the ear iron (oorijzer). Such jewels formed an important part of Dutch regional costume and represent a rich and varied historical cultural heritage, worn by women in several regions including Zeeland and South Holland. Today, these pieces are highly collectible examples of traditional Dutch goldsmithing and can also be worn as a striking antique accessory.
