About the Item

A bright pink tourmaline weighing .60 carats is surrounded by 10 luminous natural saltwater pearls in this antique buttery 18K yellow gold ring. This gorgeous jewel dates from around 1840, though possibly earlier. The gorgeous tourmaline is bezel-set and the gold has been crimped like a pie to hold the stone in place. The ten pearls —each measuring approximately 3.25mm— are tremendously luminous and display orient; that's the prismatic display of color that some, but not all, fine natural pearls exhibit. The rear of the ring has an opening that allows the tourmaline to be cleaned from beneath to keep the stone bright and beautiful. Originally I imagine this was a closed-back setting but at some point in its history somebody chose to open the stone up and as a result, the stone is sparkling and firey instead of looking dimmed and perhaps dirty underneath like you see with many similar rings from this era. The ring is European but I am not sure where exactly it was created. The ring bears a metal fineness mark "AH" that may represent a jeweler out of Belgium but I cannot be sure. The ring is also marked for metal fineness. This beautiful antique ring is in very fine condition and all the stones are in beautiful condition and are original to the ring. The ring is currently a size 7 and could be resized by your local jeweler.

Imperial Topaz & Pearl Gold Ring Certified Untreated, London, 1843 Size 10.5

Located in Northampton, MA

This vivid pink imperial topaz ring -hand-crafted in England over 180 years ago- is one of the rarest and most unapologetically regal rings you will ever encounter. A size 10.5 ring, it was originally created for a man. But could of course be worn by anyone today. In the era this ring was created, men wore pearls. And no man would feel uncomfortable wearing a flashy pink gemstone because there is absolutely no other gemstone that looks like this. Topaz is a common gemstone and is typically white. It is irradiated to achieve its popular blue and pink colors. But naturally pink topaz is not common. It is in fact exceedingly rare, considerably rarer than diamonds. And this particular natural pink topaz gem is vividly saturated. It flashes purple. Having reviewed images of the pink imperial topaz necklace and earrings King Charles presented his wife, Queen Camilla...

Jade & Pearl Ring Certified Untreated

A large oval cabochon of translucent seafoam green jadeite jade is surrounded by 16 luminous natural pearls in this ever-stylish 14K white gold halo ring from the early 1950s. The jade stone is natural and untreated and displays a high degree of translucency. Which is why this jade ring looks spectacular whether it is in direct sunshine, or just barely illuminated by the waning light of a nearby window. The luminous jade stone changes its appearance throughout the day, as the light changes. The jade cabochon measures 14.5mm x 9.19mm Seafoam green was pointedly on-trend in the 1950s when this ring was hand-fabricated. The pearls surrounding the jade are at least partially drilled —possibly they are drilled all the way through; I can't tell because of how they are set in the mounting. At least one and probably all of the pearls are natural, un-cultured saltwater pearls. They are older than the ring itself. It's not unusual to encounter repurposed jewelry...
