About the Item

An antique diamond, silver, and yellow gold ring, comprising twelve old European cut diamonds, in silver and 18 karat yellow gold. My favourite thing about this Antique 18K Yellow Gold and Silver 2 Row Diamond Ring, is the sparkling diamonds. What’s yours? Perhaps the carved shoulders? Or the contrast of silver and gold? This early Victorian ring is set with graduating old European cut diamonds, with the largest at the centre. The ring is formed as 2 rows of diamonds, 5 to each row, with a diamond terminal at each end, at the centre. The diamonds are bright, white, sparkly, and well-matched with one another. The diamonds are held within a silver prong setting, the cool tone of the silver accentuating the brightness of the diamonds. The shoulders of the ring are ornately and deeply carved with a scrolling motif, which leads to a plain, polished band of yellow gold. The band is rounded, making it comfortable to wear, and this ring oozes quality, and is a delight to behold. The ring is in great condition, with some minor nicks and scratches to some of the diamonds, visible under 10x magnification, as would be expected from a piece of this age. The ring has previously been sized down to an oval shape, which keeps the structural integrity of the ring safe, and this does not affect wearability. Wear and tear acquiescent with age. The ring measures 8.3mm long, and the setting measures 20.1mm wide. The ring rises 4.2mm off the hand, and the band measures 2.1mm wide at the back. Total diamond weight, estimated: 2.15ctw Gross weight: 4g Ring size, approximately: UK – M US – 6 ¼ EU – 52.5 mm Hallmarks: stamped ‘18’, tests as approximately 18 karat gold, setting tests as silver, circa 1860 This ring can be sized up within reason.
