An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver gilt grape shears; an addition to our silver flatware collection. This exceptional pair of antique Victorian cast sterling silver gilt grape shears has a hinged scissor action. The handles of these grape scissors are embellished with plain intertwining stems to double antique dolphin decorated fingerpieces, accented with details reproducing the scales, in addition to a shell motif. The circular hinged portion is embellished with a man in the moon mask design. The grape shears are fitted with flat engraved scrolling leaf decorated blades, with a rounded outer edge. The pairs’ handles are cast elegantly with Bacchanal motifs of fruiting grape vines and baskets bursting with fresh produce. Once used for snipping grapes, these Regency-period scissors bear the monogram “AD” for their original 1815 owner and boast an impressive royal English provenance.
