Wonderful mixed media placard with Chinese woodblock prints from San Francisco's legendary 1920s Chinese-American restaurant and nightclub The New Shanghai Cafe, by an unknown artist (American, 20th Century). The New Shanghai Cafe was one of the many storied and notorious Chinese-American nightclubs that was previously known as Shanghai Low which opened in 1913 and expanded several times until its popularity necessitated the building of New Shanghai Cafe with room for a high-class dance orchestra. Presented in rustic bamboo gilt toned frame under glass. Image size 21"H x 23"W.

"Postcard from Paris" Satirical Lithograph Social-commentary Screen Print by Charles Bragg (American, 1931-2017). A nude woman wrapped in beaded necklaces poses in front of an older man operating an antique camera. The head of a dog is visible between the two of them, looking wide-eyed. The room is divided by a brown drapery covering half of the green, patterned wallpaper behind the woman. Leafy plants are positioned behind the man, breaking up the line of the curtain. Numbered as "275/300" in bottom left corner. Signed "Charles Bragg" in bottom right corner. Frame size: 19.88" H x 24.5" W Image size: 9.5" H x 14.5" W Charles Bragg (American, 1931-2017) was a painter, sculptor, and illustrator of commentary on human behavior, based out of Los Angeles, California. Bragg often injected his sense of humor and appreciation of satire into his subjects, many of which are cartoonish and seem half human and half animal. He also depicted serious subjects, ones that become poignant commentaries on the human condition. Bragg was born in St. Louis Missouri in 1931. His parents were vaudeville performers, and he spent most of his young life traveling on tour with them. During his teenage years, he went to New York's High School of Music & Art in Harlem.
