About the Item

"Villa of Diomedes" is an enchanting painting that weaves a captivating tale through its blue-green, white, and sienna accents. The artist skillfully employs a mix of pigments, dyes, inks, and oil sticks on antique Belgian linen, creating a mesmerizing mixed medium composition. Inspired by the ancient Villa of Diomedes, a Roman villa near Pompeii, Italy, the artwork draws parallels with the villa's ruins, reflected in a striking striped pattern. The canvas appears to float effortlessly inside a hand-painted matte green wood frame, enhancing the overall allure of the painting. The actual artwork measures 27cm x 22cm, with frame with dimensions of 31cm x 26cm x 3.5cm. The artist's signature is in the lower right corner, and on the back of the frame, a subtle Evans Deventer stamp reveals the artist's name, the year of creation - 2022, and the place of completion - Paris, France. With "Villa of Diomedes," the artist takes you on a journey through time, inviting you to explore a storied past.

"Set Us In Stone I" (abstract, blue, Parisian, graphic, bust on natural canvas)

SET US IN STONE I 2022 Paris, France Originally created as part of Nicholas' solo exhibition "This, and Thereafter (Plumes)," December 10, 2022 - January 7, 2023. The theme illustrated the enigmatic uncertainty around what might happen after life. A range of paintings were presented – vibrant and ethereal – touching on different aspects of this notion. Each painting had a different point of view, oftentimes focusing around the inevitability of what is to come, and if and how it influences the present. This particular piece centers around personal legacy, how you will be remembered, and how your life vanishes into an abstraction as time goes by. This notion is visualized with a bust set in stone. The technique Evans used was a mixing of water-based ink with a hint of blue, that he knew would react when overlaid with white acrylic, pulling out a lighter hue of the blue ink. The white silhouette of a portrait set in stone creates a ghostly continuation of the underlaid pattern. Option to create a pair alongside "Set Us In Stone II" (as pictured). Price and size are per painting. Evans Deventer...

TIME, IT TAKES I 2022 Paris, France A graphic and bold abstract painting on linen, with dark blue green ink and white acrylic accents. A single, bold, orange line is situated on the left side of the painting, a commentary on markers of time as an ineffective unit of measurement. Time interpreted not as linear, but an experience outside of numbers and outside of logic. Option to create a pair alongside "Time, It Takes II" (as pictured). Price and size are per painting. Ogham - Green striped abstract painting

Ogham - Green striped abstract painting

By Mark Zimmermann

Located in East Quogue, NY

Green abstract striped painting by Mark Zimmermann- Acrylic and graphite on canvas in artist frame. Signed on back by the artist. Mark Zimmermann's work is based on the fusion of meditative fields, architectonic structures and an organic gestural line that is one-part intentional and one-part accidental. Zimmermann clearly demonstrates his deftness of hand though labored bands of color, building and editing one band upon other, until the editing process renders compositions that combine both hard-edge and action-painting abstraction. In discussing this work, the editor and writer, Larry Qualls noted,“...a majestic landscape narrative... they illuminate the nature of painting itself. In a sense what these paintings do is bring a synthesis of the conceptual and the realistic; it is as if there is the conflux of two grand traditions: the purely abstract and the purely objective.” Mark Zimmermann has exhibited his paintings across the United States and abroad. His work is held in private and public collections such as JW Marriott Essex House...
