About the Item

Fine antique Chinese agate snuff bottle of rounded rectangular form, carved from richly figured natural agate with complex brown, amber, cream and smoky-grey inclusions and fortification-like banding. The stone displays striking naturally occurring patterns across both principal faces, with irregular cloud-like and layered formations creating an almost pictorial effect. The differing compositions on each side emphasize the character and depth of the natural material. The bottle is notably well hollowed, with carefully worked interior walls despite the substantial density of the agate. It has a short cylindrical neck, dished mouth, softly rounded shoulders and a compact flattened body of pleasing proportions. With associated rose quartz stopper.
