About the Item

ewer and its basin called "Temperance", in silver-plated bronze, in the style of the Renaissance, after the model of François Briot, preserved in the Louvre Museum. The egg-shaped ewer lays on a circular pedestal, with a woman-shaped handle. The basin dominated by the Temperance, is lined with moldings godrons, chiseled cartridges allegories of the 4 elements and arts (Rhetoric, Music, Dialectics, Geometry, ...), deities, grotesque masks and foliage. Diameter of the basin: 44cm Height ewer: 35 cm.
