About the Item

Of superb craftsmanship, this mould-made archaizing female protome still retains much of it's original allure. She wears a stephane, with a row of curls emerging from under the headdress. While her almond-shaped eyes, quiet down-turned gaze, and gentle smile subtly impart secrets from a bygone era. Traces of red pigment remain on an ochre ground. Cf - For similar, see. R. A.
