About the Item

A spectacular patinated bronze bust of a boy, signed by Marie-Anne CRANNEY-FRANCESCHI (née en 1883) , a French sculptor of the Art Nouveau period. Its composition, facial features, and the anatomical rigidity of the cap are directly based on busts of infants from the Italian Renaissance, as inspiration from classical busts was very common during this era. The tilt of the head and the melancholic or reflective expression of the face evoke a delicate emotional quality. The patinated bronze is crafted with a smooth finish that mimics the texture of skin, creating a striking contrast between the material's hardness and the softness of the modeling. The dark patina highlights the intricate details of the sculpture. It bears the hallmark of the renowned Parisian foundry Susse Frères, established in 1758, which played a pivotal role in the production of high-quality bronze sculptures during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. Shipping costs include professional, custom-made packaging and personalized delivery with tracking and warranty.
