About the Item

Bronze of a satyr dancing on hoofed feet with a young Bacchus on his shoulders holding up a bunch of wine grapes. Mounted on a rosso antico turned marble base. By Franz Xaver Bergman, Austrian, 1861-1936. Globally celebrated Viennese artist and foundry owner Franz Xaver Bergman is known for his bronze statuettes and figurines, which are rich with personality and alive with action. This bronze is and exuberant example, the tall, lean satyr prancing forward with the young god of wine and revelry balanced high on his shoulders, enjoying his grapes. Marked with Bergman's memorable visual signature, a stamped capital 'B' inside a two-handled vase. Good scale at 16 inches high 6.5 wide 3.75 deep
