About the Item

Entitled "Charlie Chaplain", hand painted porcelain made in 1984 by Lladro, in Spain and retired in 1990 This is labeled 5233 and 025F; signed on the bottom by the sculptor, Juan Huerta (see image). The piece depicts Charlie Chaplain as the proverbial tramp, standing in front of a suitcase with his hobo sack behind him while examining a white flower in his delicate hands. Please note the ORIGINAL Wooden CANE resting loosely over his left arm. It is almost always missing! Guaranteed to be authentic and original, this piece has the appropriate markings on the underneath and is packed in the original box (see images). It is rarely found in this just about mint condition with no mars, chips, or scratches, and definitely no restoration of any kind. Of note are the vulnerable delicate fingers and white flower completely intact, along with his bag and cane. Often they are chipped or lacking. These are all there. Unique to have both the original cane and original box with no chips, breaks or repairs-----a gem. Dimensions: 3" deep x 3" wide x 11 1/8" high Note: I am a second generation antiques dealer and have been in business, buying, selling, and collecting, for 50 years; I am also a member of several prestigious antique associations. Thus, I am well qualified to inspect and evaluate the products I offer for sale and I guarantee this to be authentic and as I have described.

Vintage hard to find "Rolly Dolly" Toy; unknown German maker, circa 1915; I have named "Dapper Clown"; this is one of the more rare "Rolly Dolly's" (really rare in this condition). Today we call these toys "Roly Poly's". You knock them over and they always "right" themselves and get upright; probably after the 17th C. Japanese "Daruma Dolls" at some level. I'm not sure of the actual thematic genesis of this character, but the excellent condition, very simply, separates this from any other similar Roly Poly's, Watch the attached video to see how it was played with to better appreciate the condition. 8" high puts it in the "taller" category for this toy.
