Nest of three Nantucket lightship baskets, the swing handles, staves and the ears ( which attach the handle to the basket) are all carved from oak. The bottoms are made from pine and each are stenciled with the maker's mark, "R Folger Maker Nantucket Mass." Rowland Folger (1803-1883) is considered one of Nantucket's first makers of lightship baskets. Early 19th century American Grommet Iron Harpoon, circa 1830, having a wide flat 5 - 1/2 inch long head with very slight rise to the rear edge, pivoting on the pierced disc end of the 1/4 inch diameter shank ending in socket with open seam. The harpoon retains its spliced marline grommet. The harpoon is in good condition with heavily rusted surface throughout and signs of use along the shank; the head freely pivots and there has been no metal loss.
