About the Item

More than 20 years ago, I once visited Europe. It was just during the Christmas season, and I entered a vintage toy store attracted by the atmosphere of its exterior, which was faintly dimly lit with only 10W bare light bulbs dangling from the ceiling. The atmosphere of the toy store was completely different from that of a toy store in Japan, and even though I was already an adult, I joined the children and bought one of the old building blocks in a wooden box. I am now working with old things, but unfortunately, it is difficult to find a gem among old Japanese tsumiki that makes my heart flutter. The number of colors may be excessive, or there may be too much information. I wanted to make something simpler, timeless, and exciting for adults, something that would not be used as fuel for wood stoves or lined up in bright fluorescent recycle stores 100 years from now. I asked Hideaki Hanano to make such a "tsumiki" for me. The blocks are thick and can be displayed standing up. For educational toys for small children, the clear tones of the wood blocks clashing with each other, and the feel of the Japanese royal road are certainly present here.
