About the Item

This stunning and impactful Mid-Century Modern chandelier was realized in Murano, Italy- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for centuries for its superlative glass production. It offers three tiers of handblown Murano ovoid leaf form shades. Each of the elliptical shades has amorphic solid blocks of 24kt yellow gold floating in translucent glass suggesting crushed glass. The golden and clear shades attach to a lustrous chrome frame and are secured to the ceiling via a domed canopy (in the same material)- that provides a beautiful tonal and material counterpoint. With its sophisticated metallic color palate and clean modernist lines, this chandelier is as versatile as it is aesthetically compelling, blending perfectly with any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards. The height can be adjusted to suit. It is in excellent vintage condition and accommodates 4 edison based bulbs offering 400 watts of light.
