Vintage sculptural table or accent lamp features urn shaped ceramic body with fluted relief decor on the sides, adding Art Deco or Streamline Moderne element to a traditional Chinoiserie or Regency Revival urn form. The ceramic body is decorated with high gloss monochromatic Bordeaux or Oxblood red glaze; it is mounted on stepped round brass base and is equipped with brass fixtures and socket. The lamp is in fully operational, very good original vintage condition; it is marked with paper sticker on the bottom, "Royal Haeger Lamp Company", as well as details on the shape and glaze and suggested harp and shade. The lamp stands 13.5" to the top of the socket, and 20" - to the top of the finial. The convenient size and conservative footprint allow the lamp to be used on smaller tables or relatively narrow shelves or fireplace mantelpieces, either as accent or desk lamp, or as a smaller table lamp. Unique hand decorated Swedish mid-century modern ceramic lamp attributed to Tilgmans Keramik. One yellow, one rose colored bird sitting on a branch with light green leaves on blue/black sgraffito striped background. Black and white top and bottom part. Signature on a leaf. Beautiful vintage condition. Sweden, 1960s. Paul Harald “Harry” Tilgmann was born in Dresden, Germany in 1904 and emigrated to Sweden during WWII where he started Tilgmans Keramik (= Ceramics) in 1948 in the small town of Utbynäs close to Gothenburg. Tilgman had 16 employees working for him and when he hired the Polish refugee Marian Zawadzki (1912-1978) as artistic director in 1953, Tilgman Keramik started experimenting with the distinct sgraffito technique. The sgraffito technique consists of carving fine lines into the background of a design through a light colored glaze down to a dark grey clay slip. This created a unique textured ground which has become a style associated with Tilgmans Keramik in particular. The decorative elements also appear to be outlined with a carved line and then hand painted with overglazes where birds, fish, flowers, butterflies and other animals were a common theme. This type of work was the most popular in midcentury Sweden alongside Tilgmans small animal figurines...

Rare, unusual vintage majolica lamp features abstract graphic decor with large flower motifs, done in relief; the body is mounted on turned solid wood base. The upper part of urn-shaped ceramic body is accentuated with 6 symmetrically placed soft indentations, a common feature for Mid Century Modern glass and ceramic shapes; the strategic placement of the relief elements guides the eye along the complex shape of the lamp. The reliefs are hand-sculpted with light variations in shapes and forms of the leaves and petals and a few visible joint lines, further emphasizing organic, hand-made quality of the lamp. Muted, evocative color palette complements the textured decor and the sculptural body of the lamp without overpowering it. Bordeaux red and teal green glazes are used for the flowers and leaves; the mottled mocha and cappuccino brown background features linear plaid design in the same red color that is used on the relief elements, unifying the colors of the composition. The lamp is signed on the bottom with FF (for the manufacturer, Fratelli Fanciullacci) and ITALY. It is in good, fully operational vintage condition, with the new socket, brass fittings, and wiring. It stands 17" tall to the top of the socket, and 24.5" - to the top of the finial. It is missing an importer sticker; Fratelli Fanciullacci created variety of majolica lamps for various American importers, such as Raymor, Rosenthal Netter, Ebeling Reuss...
